Northampton & Lamport Railway

Saturday 10th December 2005, a nice crisp sunny morning and I decide to visit this railway, just 15 miles from my home. Yes, it is Christmas time and like most preserved railways the Santa Specials were running. I arrived early, just as 5374 Vanguard was coming off the siding ready for duty. This 0-6-0 side tank spent it's working life in Poland at the Huta Ostrowiec Steel Works. It was transported overland from Poland via Berlin to Ostende and landed at Ramsgate, Kent then on to the N.L.R. arriving 1st August 1992. After a great deal of hard work the first fire was lit on 19th September 1995. The railway operates a push-pull train and facing south, was Class 45 No.118. The Brampton Valley Way footpath runs alongside the whole length of the track so it is very easy to view and photograph the trains.
