North Yorkshire Moors Railway

This railway runs through spectacular scenery from Grosmont to Pickering in North East Yorkshire. Sometimes steam trains also run on the national rail network from Grosmont to Whitby. The picture (right) shows a train heading to Grosmont from Whitby, passing under the brick viaduct at Captain Cooks Haven......

.......On the journey from Grosmont to Pickering the trains stop at Goathland, also known as 'Aidensfield' in the television programme Heartbeat. Goathland is a small spread out community but attracts thousands of tourists because of it's association with television. Many of the tourists arrive by steam train.
