THE WEST
SOMERSET RAILWAY SPRING GALA 2008
Another grand Gala weekend at the longest
preserved railway in Great Britain. Ernie and I spent four days at the railway. We also met up with our friend from
Bridgwater, Ged. Normally we spend two days at the railway and two
days making Pictorial Walks of local villages but with the showery
weather over the four days we settled down to video and take still
shots of trains for the whole weekend.
We rode the train on Thursday taking the 14.30 from Bishops Lydyard
and was most impressed with the action staged at Minehead for our
arrival. As we had not got the full working
timetable with us the sight of the freight train at Crowcombe was
also a delight.
Pictures start at Bishops Lydyard station where there is a museum
housing lots of interesting items as well as pictures
You will see that there are two sets of pictures for you to view. I
thought it would be nice to include some of Ernie's pictures.
