I have a lot to talk about regarding railways especially steam. I started train spotting at Luton in 1949. I've been mad about trains ever since........that's about fifty six years !!! ......... Steam Trains are magic!
I visit Heritage Steam Railways all over Britain very often with my pal Ernie.

Together with my sons we built a total of fourteen Model Railways in our loft. My eldest son David has a collection of British Modern Image Models.

My friend Lee in Lincolnshire, has built a Garden Railway. For more information go to Lee's Garden Railway on the Railways Index Page.
I have a program called  'TRAINZ' loaded in my computer and build huge  model railway layouts. A great train simulator. My friends in Scotland are very interested in 'TRAINZ' too, but also another simulator called 'BVE'.  Have a look at their web site by clicking on this link.....  http://www.2ofme.co.uk/html/trainsims.

Since Video Corresponding with my friend Clyde in Florida, I have become interested in overseas railways, especially East China Steam ..... Fascinating stuff!!!

I have now become interested in photographing Modern Image. With my pals Dave and Ernie as well as my sons and grandsons we visit various railways like The East Coast Main Line, The Northampton Loop and various places on the Midland line. We take photographs and shoot video film. Many other people also do this and by chatting with them one learns a great deal about the timings of trains and the changes that are taking place on the national network.

                                                       30TH December 2008

Another wonderful year is coming to a close. A great deal of train pictures have been taken with my little Nikon Coolpix 2100. Also lots and lots of video. I am very fortunate to have my eldest son as well as my pal Ernie on most of my trips. If I go off on my own there are usually other enthusiasts to chat to and I have made many new contacts this way. Most of them use ' fotopics' to display their pictures. If you go to my  LINKS page you will find some of the sites. Sadly I lost one of my pals this year. Dave Clark died quite suddenly. I often think of him when I'm out and about taking pictures. My friend Les Thomson in New Zealand also died. I sent Les and his friends many train DVD's and always received nice comments. There are very few railway tracks left in New Zealand. Another Pal with whom I used to  ' tapespond ' was Roy Cooper, he lived just round the corner from Les. Roy is over eighty years old and has now moved in to residential care with his wife Margaret. I have been corresponding with them for over fourty years. They too loved trains.

I feel I must make a comment here about litter. I know it's only a minority of enthusiasts who do not take their litter home with them. I find it very sad to see litter left on station platforms and over bridges. The worst place for this is Water Orton. Here people have stuffed disposable cups down the platform drains, between post and signs and in carrier bags tied to fencing. Totally out of order in my opinion. The people who do this will be the first to complain if the authorities ban enthusiasts from stations.
