PICTORIAL WALKS

Thrapston, Northants (43 images)

Brrr! .....A cold & overcast February day and I'm back on the railway viaduct for the sixth time. I just love it up there. This line ran from Kettering to Huntingdon and crossed the Wellingborough to Peterborough line just west of the viaduct. Some nice photographs can be taken from the viaduct and if you venture in to the Thrapston Marina, more can be taken of the viaduct from ground level. The stone arched road bridge over the River Nene dates from 1224 AD and was once a packhorse bridge.

St James Church is of 13th century origin and contains a stone tablet bearing the arms of Sir John Washington, from which, it is said, came the stars and stripes of the American flag.
