Stanwick Lakes, Northamptonshireshire - (40 images)

Early June 2006....9.30 am.....A glorious warm sunny day, ideal for visiting this new venue. The lakes were created after the extraction of sand and gravel in the Nene Valley. Where once there were lush green meadows packed with spring and summer flowers there are now lakes and reed beds, wildfowl and small mammals and I am pleased to report the return of many of the flowers that were growing here before the gravel extraction.

There are footpaths which can accommodate wheelchairs, cyclists, walkers and joggers. There are also grassy paths should you wish to get off the beaten track. A children's play and activity area is provided and boats can be moored on the River Nene.

The site is still in its early stages and is being improved all the time. If you enjoy being out in the country this really is the place to visit..
