On the 28th April 2006 my wife and I took our grandson to the annual
Historical Cavalcade of Transport
(staged by Rushden Historical Transport
Society - see link below). The
Cavalcade is held at Avenue Road in Rushden, about a mile from
the centre of town. There was plenty to see, although I felt that there was a
lack of steam engines. I last went to the event some 4 or 5 years ago when it was
held at Lancaster Farm, Higham Ferrers. In those days Fred Dibnah was present and the sight
seemed to attract a lot more steam traction. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our
visit and our grandson was totally gob-smacked, looking at all this ancient
machinery which he had never seen before.
