Bozeat, Northants (58 images)

Bozeat is a quieter village since the A509 Bypass road was built. To the right of the picture above is the old road which brought all the heavy traffic through the village. Many coins from the Saxon period have been found around the village. In 1729 there was a great fire and most of the dwellings were destroyed, however the Norman Church was unscathed. A wooden windmill was built here maybe as early as 1100. During 1947 when it was in a bad state of repair it was blown down by high winds. Like many surrounding villages the main industry in the 15th century was lace making.
