BARNWELL. Northamptonshire
A very peaceful village just off the A605 trunk road from
Thrapston to Peterborough. The Royal Train used to come to Barnwell
Station (see picture 15) bringing members of the Royal Family to
Barnwell Castle/House. The railway track was lifted over 40 years
ago but there are still signs of the platform. There is a nice
church and an inn for refreshments. Worth noting is Lathams Hospital
and the old school. The brook which runs through the village is an
attractive feature but is often without water. |
