Whitby is
situated on the north east coast of England. This is a lovely
resort with buildings constructed on a north and south hillside
with the River Esk running between them and out into the
North Sea. Of particular note is that Captain James Cook
began his sailing life here and on the south side of the river, high
on the steep cliffs, stands the remains of Whitby Abbey
founded in 657AD. The pictures in this section were
taken in October 2005.
