Midway between Redcar and
Whitby, this beautiful fishing village lies at the foot
of a steep road which wends its way to a harbour. There is a
cottage nearby where Captain James Cook spent some of his
young life before becoming one of the worlds greatest explorers.
From the harbour, steep narrow roads and passages with such names as
Dog Loup and Gun Gutter, climb up to the cliff tops
where lovely vistas of the village can be viewed. |
