HOLIDAYS

                                                     Castle Acre. Norfolk

My pal Ernie and myself visited this village during October 2006.

It was a pretty dull, chilly day but set out to explore the area.

We first discovered the Castle ruins. Huge earthworks and solid walls remain.

It was built in the 13th century. Founded in 1090 is the magnificent ruin of a Cluniac Priory. The perpendicular style St James Church dates back to the1300’s. The Ostrich Inn an 18th century coaching inn is very popular with walkers as the travel ‘The Peddars Way’ A well known pre Roman track.
