Balloch Castle Country Park is situated at the southern end of
Loch Lomond. There some very
pleasant walks in the parkland as well as along the shores of the loch. In all
there are 200 acres to explore. The castle dates from 1808 when it was built for
John Stirling, the Vale of Leven textile magnate. It is now a visitor centre. An
earlier castle near to this site was built by the Earl of Lennox in
1238 A.D..
The following pictures were taken during the second week in October 2005.
