HOLCOMBE ROGUS. DEVON
This is a very small village set in the Devon countryside. My pal
Ernie and I stayed in a cottage near here during one of our visits
to the West Somerset Railway. The village was granted permission to
hold a market and a fair as long ago as 1343. This no longer takes
place. All Saints church is a fine ancient structure with embattled
tower and five bells. Nearby is the Great western Canal, a lovely
place to take a walk or a cycle ride. Bikes can be hired locally. |
