Dumbarton
to Erskine Bridge. Scotland
This was a really nice walk and cycle ride.
Leaving Dumbarton on the old railway track bed one travels alongside
the River Clyde to Bowling. This is where the Clyde/Forth canal
begins. Here you can view the many small water craft in the basin.
The path now runs alongside the canal to Erskine and the grand
bridge across the canal and the River Clyde. The views from the
bridge are splendid and looking down one can see the jetties where
the ferries used to cross. There is a lot of old rotting
buildings and jetties along this route but a long term
plan is in the pipe line to improve the area. The cat was at the
Bowling basin. |
