HOLIDAYS

BUILTH WELLS. South Wales

We are in South Wales and staying overnight in The Lion Hotel just south of the six arched bridge built in 1777 and widened in 1925. There is a pleasant walk along the banks of the River Wye. St Mary's church has a Norman Tower and there is a castle mound, the castle is long since gone. A wonderful market hall stands near the six arched bridge which was built in1877. There is a glass case on the wall of the Lion Hotel which holds a plaque marking the adoption of  H.M.S Cordelia during World War 11.

There area lots of pictures here featuring the Lion Hotel with excellent food and unusual decor. David Williams workshop, well worth a visit and Builth Road railway station on the Cambrian line. There used to be two stations here virtually one above the other. The lower one is now a fascinating pub. Well worth a visit if you are a railway enthusiast.

This set of pictures were made in to a slide show and put on a disc.
