It does not seem possible that three
months have slipped by since I wrote page ten of 'About Me'.I must say though
that it has been a lovely time. June, David and P.J all had birthdays in
February and together with friends celebrated by dining at my favourite
restaurant, The Thai Garden at Rothwell. Northants.

With my pal Ernie I spent 5 days in
Somerset for the Railways Spring Steam Gala and although the weather was not up
to expectations we had a super time. You can see the pictures in 'Railways'
pages.
This time of year is when we start
to see Spring showing itself and as usual I paid a visit to friends Caroline and
Aubrey to photograph the new born lambs.
On a cycle ride during February I
spied some lovely blossom

Overall I think it's been pretty
cold and unsettled but this has not deterred me from getting up at 6am to go to
the railway to catch site of and photograph the early morning Car Transporter

I think the best picture taken so far this year was one which
appeared in our local paper and was taken by P.J near Isham Mill on a day when
we saw a rare hoar frost. It is of Benjamin and Mathew. Brrrr.

With the hoar frost long gone we now find ourselves in the
middle of 2008.
My pal Ernie and I spent a nice weekend at Cleethorpes and
viewed the beautiful floral arrangements on the see front .
The other attraction was The Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway Gala and beer
festival. Pictures of this event can be seen by clicking 'Railways' on the
signpost.
A very special event was the Christening of our grand daughter
Hannah. A lovely event and very well planned. It was nice to meet people who we
had not seen for sometime.

We have now had our first real holiday for this year. This was
at 'The Tamar Belle' holiday site where you stay in vintage teak bodied railway
carriages on a working station. You can see more about this holiday by clicking
on 'Links' on the signpost.
Yes
I dressed as a Morris Dancer and had a go at Morris Dancing !!!
Really good fun it was too.
Hear you view the dining carriage where each morning we were served a hearty
breakfast
During this first six months of the year I found that I was
suffering from Polymyalgia. This causes one's joints and muscles to stiffen. For
instance I had difficulty in getting out of bed and climbing stairs. I put it
down to 'getting older' . My doctor put me on little red tablets called
steroids. I must say that they have helped me a great deal. I have not been able
to ride my peddle cycle since January and really miss that part of my life but
am hoping to peddle again before too long.
A special day was when Ernie and I took my two grandsons to The
Great Central Railway
The boys enjoyed seeing and riding behind Diesel and Steam locomotives plus a
visit to Loughborough signal box where the signalman gave them a demonstration.
Finally I would like to include my 'Picture of the day' of a
little lady at Hannah's christening.

NEW YEARS DAY 2009
As I sit in my studio at 4 pm today I thank my lucky stars
that I am able to see another New Year begin. Life is very short really and as
one gets older one realises just how valuable each day is.
We had a lovely holiday in Scotland, once again staying with
our friends John and Peter. The weather was the wettest we have ever experienced
in over forty visits to Dumbarton. Never the less I did go into some of my
favourite glens and along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
I also got some railway photography done by visiting Carstairs and Abington. Not
a lot of freight to be seen I'm afraid.
Back home we found a nice place to view trains just a mile
north of Northampton at Wilson Crossing
Nice here because the Grandchildren can play safely while David and I video the
trains. Still on the train subject, John and Peter visited us for a few days and
we took a look at the Revamped London St Pancras Station. I must say that we
were very impressed.
Back at Northampton one evening I snapped a lovely spider out in the cool air
looking on the 'web ' !! for his dinner
I had a real surprise this summer when Ron Brown's son and
grandson contacted me. ( see page 2 of About Me ) Thrilled to bits I was. They
had come across my website by chance and wanted to know of any memories I had of
Ron. Later the Grandson sent me some pictures, one of which I show here
This is just how I remember him.
Brought a tear to my eye it did
Other happenings this past six months. I went past a speed
camera at 35 MPH and went on a Speed Workshop rather than get 3 points. Must say
I really enjoyed it, quite an eye opener. Got a bit short of breath a few months
ago so my doctor sent me for a local Xray. A few spots were found on my lungs so
was referred to the General Hospital for a CAT SCAN. I now await another visit
for breathing tests. We have already booked a holiday for 2009. Five days at
Thirsk so that I can do some railway photography, then to Scotland again for a
couple of weeks ( hope the weather is better ) then back to Thirsk for 5 days.
Guess why. Yes railways again.
So that brings us up to Christmas. What a lovely time we had
with lovely relatives and friends. Some happy pictures for you to view are here.
For the second year running we visited Rothersthorpe village church with our
good friend Melvyn and his really giggly relatives who we thank for a wonderful
day.

OH, HAPPY DAYS
Now without any more 'ado' I take this opportunity of wishing you all a

HAPPY AND HEALTHY 2009
We will be back
with further reports as the year progresses so come ye back again.
